HCA, Inc. depends on the expertise, skills, knowledge and time of volunteers to develop and run its programs. Volunteers may participate by helping at single events or may make a longer-term commitment by serving on our Performing Arts Advisory Committee, Visual Arts Advisory Committee or on our Board of Directors or one of its standing committees (Marketing; Finance; Fund Raising).

Key Tasks
- Develops an annual subscription series of 9 high quality, professional performing arts events; The Edge series; and film series
- Oversees creation of concert series season brochures and marketing plans (in cooperation with the Board's Marketing Committee)
- Creates a marketing plan for each event to increase participation (in cooperation with the Board's Marketing Committee)
- Enhances performances with educational or social activities when appropriate
- Develops opportunities for local emerging and avocational performers
- Assists staff with the logistics of presenting performing arts events
Commitment Required
- Meets bi-monthly (August, October, December, February, April, June) Tuesday afternoons at 5:00 pm; additional meetings may be called September - December
- One year term (limit of three consecutive terms)
- Estimated 5 hours/month
visual arts advisory committee
Key Tasks
- Develops an annual calendar of visual arts exhibitions and activities
- Oversees two group member exhibitions each year
- Seeks out innovative ways to tie exhibitions into other activities at the Center and to create collaborations with other organizations
- Serves as the selection committee for Member Spotlight and Special Exhibitions
- Develops and implements educational programs in the visual arts (being mindful not to duplicate efforts of HSD270 Community Education)
- Explores ways to incorporate visual arts activities throughout the Center
- Encourages the cultivation of revenue sources sustainable for the long-term and with the potential for growth (ex. memberships, art sales)
Commitment Required
- Meets bi-monthly (August, October, December, February, April, June) Monday afternoons 4:00 pm
- One year term (limit of three consecutive terms)
- Estimated 4 hours/month
(standing committee of the Board of Directors; committee membership is not limited to Board)
Purpose
To aid the Board in managing resources and assets effectively and prudently, and in seeing that the organization's assets are used for the greatest good and to further the organization's mission
Key Tasks
- Ensures the Board approves an annual budget
- Provides the Board with clear, accurate and timely financial reports
- Recommends audit procedures to the Board
- Monitors staff in cash management
- Ensures the organization maintains adequate insurance
- Ensures that financial reporting requirements are met
Commitment Required
- Meets monthly, immediately before full Board meetings (second Tuesday of each month 3:30 pm
- One year term (limit of three consecutive terms)
- Estimated 3 hours/month

Purpose
To develop and implement marketing, promotional and community relations efforts for the Center
Key Tasks
- Presents annual marketing plan to the Board and oversees marketing efforts for the organization
- Recommends marketing, promotional and community relations policies and procedures to the Board
- Ensures that an appropriate and consistent message is conveyed through the organization's communications
- Coordinates efforts to build participation
- Increases public awareness of the Center and its programs and activities
- Seeks sponsorship support for events
- Serves as the Board's resource for information on the market in which the organization functions

- One year term (limit of three consecutive terms)
- Estimated 3 hours/month

Purpose
To aid the Board in ensuring that there are adequate resources to support programmatic goals
Key Tasks
- Presents an annual fund raising campaign plan to the Board and oversees fund raising from individuals, corporations, foundation, associations and government agencies
- Keeps the Board apprised of fund raising progress
- Plans and executes fundraising events
- Cultivates potential sources of revenue for contributed support as well as encourages the creation of sustainable revenue programs with growth potential such as memberships, sales and entrepreneurial efforts

- Meets monthly
- One year term (limit of three consecutive terms)
- Estimated 3 hours/month
Board members jointly fulfill the following five roles and responsibilities:
- TRUSTEE (holds fiduciary responsibility; has the responsibility of stewardship, seeing the organization's assets used for the greatest good in serving the mission)
- SPONSOR (ensures there are adequate resources to support programmatic goals by making a personal financial commitment to the organization and encouraging others to do so; jointly and as individuals, lend their name and reputation in support)
- ADVOCATE (works to enhance the organization's public image; advocates for the broader arts community; acknowledges the benefits of the arts to the community)
- GOVERNOR (determines the organization's missions and bylaws and ensures that programs and services address that mission; helps evaluate senior staff person; ensures effective organizational planning; sets policy)
- PARTICIPANT (attends activities and events; contributes time to serve the organization)
Commitment Required
- Commits an average of 6 hours per month
- Misses no more than 3 regularly scheduled monthly meetings each year
- Serves on at least one committee
- Joins the membership program and contributes to the annual campaign
- Actively demonstrates commitment to the organization, the arts and to the community
