This class is for beginning and continuing drawing students. Students will develop skills and techniques to draw what they see in exciting and expressive ways. We will explore different media including - charcoal, graphite, and ink on different surfaces. Mixed Media with Acrylics - 311

Come and work with a variety of acrylic gels and grounds that will add dimension to your artwork. Using Golden Fluid acrylics, watercolor pencils, caran d’arche crayons, and oil pastels you will travel a creative journey while working on a variety of gorgeous surfaces. Become familiar with iridescent grounds such as micaceous iron oxide, and absorbent surfaces like coarse molding paste. Apply multiple layers of paint and gels and watch your images take on a life of their own. All paints, gels, and mediums provided. Bring to class: favorite synthetic paintbrushes, palette knives, a water container, rags, pencils (and any other drawing materials except chalk pastels, or use mine), and a bag lunch. $10 materials fee paid to instructor at class. Learn to create your own painting from full-time artist and teacher, Ron Merchant. You will learn the essentials of composition and train your eye to see values, shapes, and colors. Concentrate on subjects that have personal meaning for you. Bring your own photos of people or places, or set up your own still life. We’ll work together to help you create a successful personal painting. Several methods will be discussed and demonstrated to move your painting through to a finished state. Traditionally a larger version of this basket was used for gathering vegetables and fruit. This version is a smaller, utilitarian version with an 8" opening at rim and is 5" tall. Yoga exercises and breathing techniques can relax the body, as well as the mind, and create vitality, flexibility, firm muscles, good posture and coordination. Maybe you’ve always wanted to try yoga, but getting down on the floor is something that is hard for you to do. Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga designed for adults who want to enjoy the benefits of yoga, but are limited in their ability to get up and down from a floor. The class, taught in chairs, gives students the same benefits as regular yoga. It works the joints and muscles to increase flexibility, strength, balance, and circulation, as well as improving proper breathing and posture. Certified Chair Yoga Instructor Debbie Haon studied under the creator of chair yoga, Lakshmi Voelker, a California yoga teacher who developed the technique for a friend whose arthritis prevented her from doing regular yoga.
