Under the direction of Kersten Elverum, the Planning & Economic Development Department is responsible for the City's long-range planning efforts as well as the administration of the City's Zoning Ordinance. The department creates the City's Comprehensive Plan, which is a compilation of policy statement, goals, standards, and maps for guiding the physical, social and economic development of the City. The City Planner is , who also serves as the staff liaison to the Hopkins Zoning & Planning Commission.

The third public meeting for the Blake Road Corridor Small Area Plan is now scheduled! Please join us at Creekwood Estates’ Community Room, 1328 Lake St NE, on Wednesday, December 3 at 6 pm. We will look at a preferred concept plan for the Blake Road Corridor based on all the information gathered to date. This is your last chance to provide input for the plan – let your voice be heard!
