Parking Permit Fees Increase 10-27-08

Due to increasing costs in the operation and maintenance of the city’s parking lots and parking ramp, fees which have been in place since 2004 will be increased for 2009.

Effective January 1, 2009 Parking Permit Fees will be increased as follows:

  • Daily: No change
  • Monthly: Increase from $17 to $20
  • Quarterly: Increase from $43 to $47
  • Annual: Increase from $150 to $160

In addition the City has implemented an Electric Car Permit Fee. See more information below.

Employee Parking

Whatever your work schedule—weekends, evenings, weekdays or split shifts—there are plenty of parking options available.

Short-term spaces in the parking lots and on the streets should be limited to customers and clients visiting downtown Hopkins. Employee permit parking is available for all-day parking in most downtown lots and the municipal ramp.

Parking Permits

Permits may be obtained at Hopkins City Hall. Most of the parking lots downtown require a parking permit.

Permit Fees (effective Jan 1, 2009)
  Regular Electric Car*
Daily $3 not available
Monthly $20 not available
Quarterly $47 $77
Annual $160 $280

*The City has two designated electric car permit stalls located in the parking ramp which include electrical outlets. The additional fee for electric cars is to cover the cost of electricity used to charge the car while parked in the stall.

Parking Revenues

All revenues derived from parking fees are dedicated to the parking fund, which is used exclusively to sustain the existing parking system and provide future parking lots.

Parking Enforcement Hours

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, or as otherwise posted.

Convenience Parking

Free parking permits are available for seminar/convention events, loading and unloading commercial vehicles, and downtown construction workers with approved application.

Resident Parking

Overnight parking is available for residents with certain addresses with a special permit in the municipal ramp and in the lots on 1st St & 8th Ave S and 1st St & 9th Ave S. There is no cost for this permit.

Snow Emergency
