The City of Hopkins Property Maintenance Ordinance Section 405 adopts the 2000 International Property Maintenance Code. This code addresses life safety and health concerns with minimum standards set forth for commercial, residential and rental properties. It includes all aspects of the building from the structure to electrical, plumbing, and mechanical and fire concerns.
Other City of Hopkins ordinances that address property maintenance issues such as littering, open storage, dog issues, and nuisances are the Nuisance Ordinance Section 615, Animal Ordinances Section 925, and Solid Waste Management Ordinance Section 605.
The City of Hopkins inspects the exteriors of all properties in the spring and fall of each year. Inspections are also conducted when our office receives a complaint about the condition of a property.
Complaints
The City of Hopkins investigates complaints of situations that may involve a violation of City ordinances i.e. exterior storage, working without a permit, too many animals, junk vehicles.
