Building Permit Requirements

Residential

Only the owner (does not have to occupy but has to be the owner) of the property or a contractor may pull a permit for up to four dwelling units, such as building, remodeling, windows, siding or re-roofing.

If a contractor pulls a permit for residential building permit, they need to have a hard copy of their State Residential License.

Decks, additions, garages or new homes need (2) sets of plans, including (2) sets of site plans, showing the property lines and where the building is on the property and all other dimensions.

Commercial

Contractors/Persons must have a City Contractor License ($15.00 per job or $80.00 for the year).

Proof of insurance is also needed (General Liability and Workman's Comp).
