The City of Hopkins housing stock consists of about 60% rental properties. Because of this fact the City is very interested in preserving and maintaining its housing stock which keeps our neighborhoods safe. Inspections of rental properties are conducted on a routine and complaint basis. The common areas of all apartment complexes (defined as three or more units) are inspected on an annual basis. Between 10 and 20 percent of the units of each apartment complex are conducted every three years.

The City conducts inspections of the duplex, townhouse, condominium, and single family rental properties by the section of the city they are located in as often as possible.

If you would like further rental property information or to find out if a single unit or duplex is licensed with the City, please contact the Inspections Division (952-548-6320) or Housing Inspector (952-548-6323).
